Love scenes
March 26, 2007
How do you make each and every one unique? That’s the question I’m pondering right now. I’m about to write one and I want it to be different than any I’ve done before. Kent & Cadence are characters with quirks and I need to apply them to the love scene. Kent has an aversion to brainy blondes–which Cadence is. How do I work that into the scene to make it unique, and humorous? Any suggestions? Cadence thinks Kent is a player..okay, so he is, but once they make love he’s going to be blown away and feel differently. I have a lot to work into this scene, yet I have to make it hot, hot, hot. I hope I’m up to the task.
On the home front, it’s been pretty quiet. Nice for a change. I think that is what I need. Lots and lots of quiet. Oh, I started walking again, and my gosh how my mood has changed. I’m running on a endorphin high that helps lift my otherwise depressed state. I’m writing, which also helps. I have about 35 pages to finish Caddy-Did..yeah!
American Idol is on tomorrow night. My favorites are, Chris & Blake. I about fell over last week when Chris was in the bottom two. What? Unbelievable. My 10-year-old is in love with Sanjaya. I started watching The Riches. Very interesting show. I think I’ll keep watching. Also, watched the first of the Tories Inn Love episode…I just love reatity TV. Tell me what you’re watching?
I’m off to write a few more pages–you all have a fantastic day!

Why I love writing!
March 23, 2007
Because when things suck on the homefront, you can forget about it when you’re writing. That’s what I love about it the most. I can get in Kent’s and Cadence’s head instead of my own, a much better place to be these days. On an upnote, I ordered a new CD from Amazon–actually one of my favorites, Rick Astley’s, Whenever You Need Somebody. What a voice. I love it!
I want to recommend something to all you parents out there with daughters old enough to think about marriage. Do not get attached to their boyfriend, because when they break up, you’re left feeling sad, as if you’ve lost a son. A helpless feeling to be sure, especially when you know they’re making a big mistake. But it’s their life, at least that’s what they keep telling you. Why does it effect mine then?
I’m still writing, got Kent and Cadence alone so they can do the nasty, now I just have to figure out how to talk them into it. Kent is going to be furious when he finds out it was her idea to go off alone somewhere, though the Everglades isn’t the most romantic place–unless you’re an alligator. We’ll see how it all works out.
Anyway, I’m off. I’m going to leave you with a teaser of my July release, Inventing The Abbotts.
Ava glanced up and stilled when she saw Thorn head toward her in a pair of blue, low-slung trunks.
Lord have mercy. She would have never guessed he looked that good under his clothes. From beneath the cover of her sunglasses, she allowed her gaze to glide from his taut, well-defined chest, to a flat, sculpted stomach, lightly covered with sandy-colored hair. Then her attention drifted lower to the bulge apparent beneath his trunks.
What the hell are you doing, Ava? Thorn’s like a brother. You definitely shouldn’t be checking that out. When her gaze returned to his face, she was amazed at how handsome he was without his glasses.
Her mouth went dry.
She averted her eyes and took another sip of her drink, her heart playing a drum solo in her chest.
Why the sudden awareness of Thorn “Mr. Gadget” Abbott? Had to be the six-month dry spell she’d had without sex. That kind of drought would affect any woman. Why else would she look this way at a man she’d thought of as a sibling?
I’m back where I was!
March 19, 2007
I wrote 4 pages today and am up to where I lost my work in Caddy-Did. It isn’t as long as it was, but after revision I hope that it will be. I’m going to just keep moving forward in the story–worry about rewrites when it’s finished. I made a pact with myself to finish this book my the end of the month and I plan to do that. I have the last 4 chapters mapped out. So all I have to do is write them. Love scene in the next chapter. The afterglow in the next. The black moment after that. Then tying up all loose ends. Yeah!
On a personal note: I have some really fantastic friends on-line–ones that truly care about me. I wanted to give a personal shoot-out to Olga, who has to be the nicest person I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. What a wonderful soul she has. Hugs to you dear friend!
I found this yesterday and I was so tickled. Fire & Ice at Borders. Take a look. If you have a notion, reserve a copy.
Anyway, have a fantastic evening.

It’s snowing!
March 17, 2007
Not strange for March except that it was close to 80 degree on Monday. We have the weirdest weather in Missouri.
I’ve sat and watched movies all day. No writing at all. Nothing new there, right? Grr….
Monday I plan to work on that–once I get the kids off to school. It’s been close to two weeks since I’ve been home alone. Hard to write with kids and husband around.
Anyway, I’m off to do something. Have a nice evening.

First WordPress blog!
March 16, 2007
So, I can’t get into my Blogger blog. I didn’t know what to do so I started a new one here. I hope that WordPress is easy to figure out. I want to put links up to my critique partners and my friends. I never could figure out how to on Blogger.
I’ve had a sick child all week at home. She has the headcold I did. I felt so bad about giving it to her. I hope the rest of the family doesn’t get it, too.
Two days ago, I lost about a chapter of Caddy-Did and a ton of revision that I couldn’t retrieve. I was really down about it, but it’s water under the bridge now. I’m working on the rewrites. I miss those days when I could write 10 pages a day. I don’t know why I can’t do that anymore–I’m easily distracted–why, I don’t know.
I’m a month away from Fire & Ice going to print. I’m so excited, yet scared at the same time. Upnote, Samhain was just RWA approved. I have to join now.
Currently, I’m working on my coverart stuff for Inventing the Abbotts. I’m still not sure about what I want. I do need an Aztec theme to tie the books together. I don’t think they can top Fire & Ice’s cover, though. I loved it.
Anyway, I’m off. You all have a fantastic Friday.
