I struggled to write each and every word. I wonder how I’m going to get through the week. I think my mind is tired, but I refuse to give in. I’ll just keep cranking away. Todays count, 1041. Total, 33,060

I’m thinking about entering the first chapter of Peruvian Knights into a contest. I could use something to look forward to again. I’m just not sure if I have enough of a hook yet. I keep reworking it–not sure if its any better or not. Its been years since I have entered a RWA chapter contest.  I’ve been reading all the questions they ask that should be included in the entry. I think I have most of them covered. Then again, who knows.

Anyway, going to run into town as soon as my daughter gets back from college. You all have a great day.

One month down!

March 30, 2008

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been sweating for a month now. A whole month that I didn’t miss one day of writing. That is a record for me. Even at my best, I never wrote everyday. I’m very proud of myself. I can do this–and I refused to stop even when the challenge is over. Today’s word count 1,132. Total, 32,019

I started reading Novelist Boot Camp yesterday–it’s very enlightening. Once I get the first draft of Peruvian Knights done, then I can go back and use what I’ve learned to make the story stronger.

Still no word on Her Man Flint at Cerriwen. Maybe they don’t want to see all of it. I so want my Department of National security series in print. Agent in Training received excellent reviews and Nick Trent is like the hottest man alive. Veil of Deceit and The Morgan Charm has never been published. I’d love to see all 4 books in print some day.

Anyway, you all have a great Sunday!

I have a migraine and let me tell you, it’s hard to think with one. I barely made my word count. 1,003 Total as of today, 30,887. I’m just thankful I’m done, though I don’t think I am happy with the scene I wrote. Finished chapter 15.

Yesterday I went to our local Barnes & Noble looking to see if they had any Samhain books. They had 1–mine. It was the store I talked into stocking my book. They had 1 left. I pulled it out and put its cover face out so people could see it. Well, I am the author, right? While I was there I picked up some craft books. First, The Classic Guide to Better Writing by Rudolf Flesch and A. H. Lass. Next, Novelist’s Boot Camp, 101 ways to take your book from boring to bestseller by Todd A. Stone. For fun, I bought Stephanie Tyler’s new Blaze Beyond Control. Steph used to be a critique partner of mine a few years ago. I knew back then that she had something special.

Anyway, I’m off to take a tylenol. Have a satisfying Saturday!

The Knights Templar

March 27, 2008

knight1.jpg

I finished my words in Peruvian Knights today. 1,102. Totally since I started sweating with Sven 28,863.

I’m going to give you a glimpse into what the new book is about.

When Travis Kane inherits his late grandfather’s estate, he’s entrusted with a map handed down from a Templar Knight descendent. As he embarks on a journey into the wilds of the Amazon to look for treasure, he finds instead, love and honor thanks to a beautiful botanist and a dead grandfather he’d always thought was crazy.

Anyway, have a great day!

Check in day!

March 26, 2008

I’m still cranking out the words. I did, 1,062 today. Total 27,761. Yippeekiyiya! Yes I’m proud of myself, as is my husband. He can’t believe how well I’ve stuck to this routine. As of today, I’m exactly half finished with Peruvian Knights and I have a query written for it as well. I know I’m getting ahead of myself but I’m excited about the book.

It’s mild out right now so I think I’ll go take a walk. You all have a great day.

Still Moving Forward!

Anyway, have a great day!

And another week begins!

March 24, 2008

Todays word count was 1,237. Total since I’ve been sweating with Sven, 25,586 in Peruvian Knights. Not sure I was all that happy with my writing today but I hope I can revise and make it stronger. I’m five pages into chapter 14.

I’m feeling a bit sickly today, headache, tummy ache and all around ickiness. I hope it goes away by tomorrow.

Anyway, I’m off to do some revision. Have a great day!

Happy Easter!

March 23, 2008

I’m spending a quiet Easter at home with just the family. What is everyone else doing?

I wrote 1,070 words today after I got dinner in the oven. Total since I started, 24,349 words. I finished chapter 13 today. I’m working on a query letter too. I’ve been reading a lot of them to see what works and what doesn’t. I’ve never been very good at writing them. I think mine might be more of a blurb than a query. I’ve rewritten the thing like ten times. I may rework it ten more times before I think it’s good enough to send out once I get the book written. I’m about half finished now. Of course, I’ll have tons of revisions to do once the first draft is completed, but I’m thrilled with my progress. Then after revision is done, I have to write a synopsis which is harder than a query. Yuck!  This will be the first  paranormal I’m going to be trying to sell. Not my first paranormal, just the first that I’ll try to sell.  I have no idea about the market–going to have to do some research on it.

Anyway, have a Happy Easter!
